"Is the dollar damaged goods?"

The Economics and Capital Markets Research Center (ECMRC) - a Banque Libano-Fran├žaise Partnered Initiative at the Faculty of Business and Management of the University of Balamand organized a debate with Mr. David Bloom, Global Head of Forex Research for HSBC, on Thursday, October 22, 2009. The Dean of the faculty, Dr. Karim Nasr, welcomed the speaker and highlighted the importance of the topic. Faculty members and a large number of interested students attended and participated in the event. Mr. Bloom explained why he believes the dollar is "damaged goods". He also noted the substantial growth foreseen for emerging markets, as opposed to the expected decay in the G10 countries after the financial crisis. Mr. Bloom encouraged students to believe in themselves and in their country. During the debate, the interaction between Mr. Bloom and the students was remarkable.
