Marine Resources and Coastal Zone Management Program (MRCZMP)

Launched in June 2004, the Program focuses on issues concerned with the coastal zone and its associated resources. It spearheads, implements, and contributes to national, regional and international efforts designed to provide proper action oriented management strategies for the coastal zone. It targets students, managers, planners, decision makers, community activists, and resource users. The Marine Resources and Coastal Zone Management Program is interested in the following fields:
  • Strategic planning and program development for coastal zone management
  • Fisheries management
  • Monitoring of threatened species
  • Marine pollution indicators
  • Pollution transport in coastal zones
  • Human impacts on coastal environments
In terms of projects, the MRCZM has launched monitoring activities at many levels to fill the gaps in available data vis-à-vis marine and coastal resources in order to promote the implementation of management and conservation programs, more specifically in the field of fisheries. Currently, the MRCZM hosts the following projects:
