Public Health and Development Sciences

Public health is a broad field with many specializations. Some of the major sub fields are: biostatistics; community practice; emergency medical services; environmental health; epidemiology; health education and health promotion; health services administration and management; international/global health; maternal and child health; nutrition; occupational health; public health laboratory practice; public health policy; social and behavioral sciences. Students can undertake a professional degree in public health (MPH, MHSA, Dr. PH) which positions them towards professional practice. Or, they can seek an academic degree which orients them more towards teaching and/or research (MS, PhD).  Many continue their studies in a related field, such as: development; education; environmental studies; health information systems; law; media and communication studies; medicine; nursing; psychology; toxicology; urban studies; among others. There are many graduate degree programs available internationally. At UOB, a degree in Master of Public Health is offered (MPH)​
