Students are encouraged to join the many social and professional activities in the Health Promotion (HP) Program and at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS). These include research seminars, workshops, field trips, volunteer work and community interventions, as well as parties and fun get-togethers.

Academic life and activities are regularly enhanced by the presence of visiting international scholars. Recent guests have been Dr. Judith Peppard of Flinders University, Australia, Professor Jeanette Edwards from the University of Manchester, UK, and Dr. Carol Garber from the University of Columbia, New York.

The HP Program has also welcomed many guest speakers who are practitioners in the field in Lebanon and the Middle East.

Some highlights of recent activities include:

  • Community service and volunteer work: teaching literacy skills to women and children in Lebanon, volunteer work at
    St. George Hospital University Medical Center, visits to the St. George Hospital Home for the Elderly
  • Community work with Amnesty International and other NGO's in relation to a "seed" component of a course on Health and Human Rights
  • Continuing education course on Children with Disability in collaboration with Sesobel
  • The Fulbright Leadership program
  • Health Fairs in the School Feeding and Education program for smoking and peer pressure; a Health Fair at the AL Mina Fish Market in Tripoli
  • Health Promotion students completed two partially online courses. Students performed online chats, submitted assignments, exams, and projects as well as online presentations of final projects via internet using the Moodle platform
  • International Public Speaking Competition in London in 2004
  • On-campus health activities to mark International Day for Older Persons, International Aids Day, World Health Day, Road Safety
  • Public health day at the University in the form of a  Health Fair on  "Our Safety is Our Responsibility"
  • Reproductive Health Awareness Campaign
  • Various campaigns and interventions about  Drug and Substance abuse, and Tobacco Free Initiatives
  • Visits to the National Health Information Center (NHI)
  • World Health Day community health fair “Healthy Today, Healthier Tomorrow”

Faculty and students are also actively engaged in research activities and conferences. Recent projects have been in relation to psychosocial needs of older persons, innovative educational methodologies, and integration of orphans as adults into society.​​​
