News and Events

  1. The Director of the Program, U. Rizk is one of the International Advisors of the American Nursing Credentialing Center - ANCC Magnet Recognition Program, and National Nursing Committee member from 2004 until present. She is the General Secretary of the Administrative Board of the Lebanese Red Cross College of Nursing.
  2. H. Chakhtoura:
    • Was elected as a member of the Council of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon since June 2011. She was the Chair of the “Media & Social Relations Committee” June 2011 – May 2012; she is the chair of the Scientific Committee since June 2012; she is the Treasurer since May 2013; and she is the Editor in Chief of the Lebanese Journal of Nursing, 2013.
    • Is a member who represents the Order of Nurses in the curriculum committee for the “Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation” association, since November 2012.
    • Is a member who represents the Order of Nurses, inthe “Colloquium Committee” in the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Directorate General of Higher Education, 2012-2013.
  3. V. Gebran:
    • Was a member of the Council and Secretary General of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon from 2008 to 2011.
    • Was an Organizer and Moderator in the parallel Nursing session of the congress, done by the Lebanese Society of Medical Oncology (LSMO), in collaboration with Memorial Sloan-kettering Cancer Center, in December 2010.
    • Was a Faculty member in the DePuy MISSA (Maghreb, Iran, SubSaharan Africa) (Johnson & Johnson), and delivered 4 lectures in the “DePuy Nurse Development Program” for 2 days in Sharjah Surgical Institute- Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. In December 2011.
  4. B. Abdallah:
    • Passed the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam. IBCLCs have the duty to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.
    • She participated in the following activities as a member in the National Committee on Infant and Young Child Feeding IYCF, and as a trainer on Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative within the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) :
      • A trainer and organizer, as part of the National committee on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), of the 40 hours Training of Trainers (TOT) course: “Infant and Young Child Feeding Counseling: An Integrated Course”. This course was based on the latest WHO guidelines, and was delivered to nurses, midwives, and health care providers between April 12 – 17, 2012.
      • A trainer within the module “Nutrition in Emergencies” in Beirut and Bekaa for Syrian health care workers and mothers on June 1 and August 7, 2012, in collaboration with the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC).
      • A trainer and organizer of the 20 hours course on Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative on July 2012 till 2013, for nurses and midwives within the National committee on Infant and Young Child Feeding IYCF.
    • Is a trainer and team member in the National Neonatal Resuscitation Program within the MOPH. She participated as a tutor in the advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Training course and Helping Baby Breathe, which was delivered to midwives and nurses all over Lebanon, between July 2011 and July 2013.
    • Served as a member of the UOB Senate till June 2013.
  5. M. Azar is the newly elected member of the Senate at the UOB.
  6. Nursing student Batoul Hijazi received the Lions Beirut Club Award for the year 2012-2013.
  7. On a yearly basis, the Nursing Program, faculty and students, celebrate “Nurses Day” on May 12.
  8. Within the context of the “Annual Award Ceremony” prepared by the OSA in July 2013, the Nursing Society club received an award for conducting the most community involved activities throughout the year.

Professional Societies Service

  • All faculty members are active members in the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.
  • All faculty members are active members in the National Nursing Colloquium Committee.
  • The Director of the Program, U. Rizk, served as the President of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon from 2006 to 2009.
  • U. Rizk is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of the AUB School of Nursing. Sigma Theta Tau International recognizes exceptional nurses and nursing students for their academic achievement and investment in the future of nursing.
  • U. Rizk is an active member and General Secretary of the Administrative Board of the newly established Lebanese Red Cross College of Nursing.
  • U. Rizk is still serving as a member of the Consultative Committee of the Faculty of Health Sciences of Beirut Arab University.
  • H. Chakhtoura is a Council Member, the Treasurer of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon, and Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon. She is the Editor in Chief of the Lebanese Journal of Nursing.
  • S. Sailian and V. Gebran are members in the Nursing Policies & Procedures Committee of SGHUMC.
  • Dr. M-T. Sabbagh is a member in the CEU’s Committee of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.
  • B. Abdallah , M. Azar, and V. Gebran are members in the Scientific Committee of the Order of Nurses in Lebanon.
  • B. Abdallah and V. Gebran are members in the editorial board of the Lebanese Journal of Nursing.
  • B. Abdallah is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
  • B. Abdallah is a member in the National Neonatal Resuscitation Training Program for nurses and midwives, in collaboration with MOH and early childhood association.
  • B. Abdallah is a Regional Representative of the Council of International Neonatal Nurses, Inc. (COINN).
