Ready to Roll Day

The Faculty of Business & Management hosted the Ready to Roll Day  with the participation of participation of “SEPT” and “Smile together” NGOS.

This event was attended by a number of participating students, NGOS, municipalities and Mr. George Albridge, Middle East Partnership Initiative Beirut coordinator.
Dean of the faculty of Business & Management Dr. Karim Nasr stressed the importance of this project about youth engagement and advocating the notions of social responsibility and doing good.
 “I feel that this  fits well with the mission of the university, fits with what we expect our graduates to get involved in when they graduate”, he added. 

He also praised the role of the partners who made a big difference in this project, and who were involved in this project including other universities, USEK, AUB, along with municipalities and very passionate NGOS:  SEPT and Smile together.

In turn, Mr. Georges Abridge, MEPI Beirut coordinator thanked the University of Balamand and the organizations involved in this community activity and municipal activities to benefit the country. 

He added that the US government, in particular the Middle East Partnership Initiative Program want to partner with Lebanese organizations that are really doing concrete work on the ground , including training programs for poor people, assistance to refugees, providing training to women.

For his part, Mr. Pierre Haddad, president of SEPT NGO, explained the role of his NGO’s project “Acsess” where students chose the subject of their advocacy in order to benefit their community.

Students in this project, he explains, debate democratically the topics that they choose in simulation of  parliament sessions. 

In turn, Ms. Antoinette Mrad, founder and president of Smile together NGO explained the role of SMILE Together NGO that has been working with the municipalities of Kfeir, Kfardanis and Ajaltoun on training sessions about awareness, sustainable development and social responsibility.

In his concluding remark, Dr. Nasr said: “Push hard, we need to do lot of advocating, a lot of communicating, embrace the idea of social responsibility, live it practice it, put whatever recommendations we have in this gathering interaction and make it happen!”​​
