The Professional Master’s Program in Food Science Technology (Project FOST) has been launched in the academic year 2009-2010.  The creation of this program is supported by the EU Tempus Program CD JEP-33102-2005(LB). The major objectives of the Tempus project include:

  • Devising a higher education program in Food Science and Technology.
  • Establishing a sustainable relationship between European and Mediterranean Universities and food enterprises.
  • Transfering knowledge from European Universities to the University of Balamand .
  • Preparing graduate students for modern careers in the food industry and by providing training and proper guidance to the workforce.
  • Promoting industrial growth through the sharing of knowledge, equipment and resources.
  • Reducing the cost of product innovation.

The following institutions are involved in the Tempus Project:

The Tempus project has been able to set, to the European standards, the Programme Curriculum, the Courses Syllabi, the Quality Assurance Procedures, the Placement Procedures and, the students, faculties and staff mobility, The different partners will try to pursue their cooperation after the end of the project (February 2011).
The Programme  is coordinated by the following committee:

An advisory board will be soon formed to follow up on the activities and development of the Programme.
