Computer Science Students Won “Favorite of the Audience” Award in BDLA 2016

Balamand Computer Science department participated with a team of four students: Simon Achkar, Mohammad Korhani, Edmond Saykali, and Roudy Yaacoub in the BDL accelerate annual international conference.

The UOB Computer Science team was the only team formed exclusively of students, where they  developed “Medex”, a mobile app that allows patients to take appointments, doctors to upload reports and prescriptions, and data to be shared by authorized pharmacists and physicians.

Banque du Liban Accelerate (BDLA) 2016 is Lebanon’s 3rd annual international conference, and officially the biggest and most influential on the Mediterranean and in the  MENA region. The event is organized by Banque du Liban with more than 50 local, regional and international partners. Attendees from 51 countries counted to more than 20000.

This year, BDLA 2016 included a HealthTech Hackathon between November 2 and 4, 2016. Contestants were expected to develop innovative solutions for the healthcare sector by developing a new application within 48 hours. 21 teams from different countries competed and only 12 teams reached the final phase. Contestants include professionals, experts, developers, designers, project managers, and students.

Apps were assessed by a jury of experts, where the audience contributed in the  voting process.

Medex won the “Favorite of the Audience” prize based on the audience vote as the best application developed in the Health Sector in BDLA 2016.

Our Congratulations to them!
