Requirements for Admission

A- Prior to registration at UOB, applicants are requested to provide the following:
  • High School Certificate based on 12 years of schooling, starting with Grade I, awarded by an institute recognized by the University of Balamand.
  • "PERMISSION" from the Equivalence Committee of the Lebanese Ministry of Education allowing them to pursue their higher education in a foreign (Non-Lebanese) program. In this regard, the Ministry of Education may request evidence of having lived and studied outside Lebanon for at least two years.
  • A minimum passing grade of 197 for TOEFL (computer-based), or 527 for TOFEL (paper and pencil).
  • A minimum passing grade of 1200 for SAT Reasoning Tests. The SAT Reasoning Tests includes three topics: Mathematical Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning and Writing, and a minimum score of 380 as required for each topic.
  • All students at UOB are placed in one of the English Courses (ENGL001, ENGL002, ENGL003, ENGL101, ENGL102, ENGL203) on the basis of their scores on the TOEFL or on the SAT WRITING.
B- Freshman students should, prior to the Sophomore year, acquire a minimum total score of 2750 for Freshman Science students (2300 for the new SAT as of May 2016) or 2600 for Freshman Arts students (2150​ for the new SAT as of May 2016​) on the SAT Reasoning Tests (SAT I) and the SAT Subject Tests (SAT II) in order to receive the equivalence to the Lebanese Baccalaureate.

The Lebanese law specifies that the SAT Subject tests must be taken as follows:

Freshman Sciences

- Mathematics IIC – Obligatory

- Two out of the three following tests:

Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Freshman Arts

- Mathematics IC – Obligatory

- Any two SAT II subject tests

Scores may be sent directly to UOB by specifying the institution code assigned to the University of Balamand : 2960, on the registration form.  As well, scores may be sent directly to the Lebanese Ministry of Education by using the code 6128.
