-------------

Who can borrow?

UOB faculty, staff and currently enrolled students may make use of their University ID card. Other groups (visitors, subscribers, UOB Alumni and others) may purchase a Library ID card to check out circulating material. Fees of subscription differ according to categories.

-------------

The valid University or Library ID card should be presented at the Circulation Desk every time you borrow books or renew them. No other identification is acceptable. These cards are not transferable and should not be loaned to other people. Missing or stolen cards should be reported to the Circulation Desk.

-------------

Periodicals and Newspapers are made available on the Library premises. Faculty members and staff are allowed to check out Periodicals, but not the current issue. A maximum of two items may be borrowed for a period of 7 days. Bound periodicals may be given out on loan for a period of 10 days.

-------------

Special Collections are kept in closed areas and are not for circulation. The use of these collections is allowed by special permission from the Head Librarian (Room 324) and is restricted to the Library premises only.

-------------

How do I check out material?

To check out a book or any other material, users will have to supply the Librarian at the Circulation desk with the Shelfmark number of the item.

Renewals:

Long loan items may be renewed once only if they are not overdue. Short loan material may be renewed at the end of the day after its return to the Circulation Desk.

-------------

Recalls:

Please be aware that any of our long loan books can be recalled for another user. You will be contacted by the Library to inform you that the item has been recalled.

-------------

Fines:

Long Loan Books: A fine will be levied on each item returned late: L.L. 500 for the first seven days, and then it increases to L.L. 1,000 per day for each item.

Short Loan Material: Fines of L.L. 1,000 per hour will be levied on borrowers returning late items.

Lost items: Users will be obliged to pay the cost of replacement of any item which is lost while on loan to them.

For subscribers (non-UOB community), the overdue fine is L.L. 2,000 per day.

-------------

Reservations:

To place a reservation, a user barcode password is required. If an item is not available, click on the “Reserve a Copy” button and follow the instructions. Users who do not have a Library account should contact the Circulation Librarian; otherwise, they will not be able to use the Reservation and User Details options.
