RIPE NCC Academic Initiative at UOB

As a part of a joint initiative between RIPE NCC, the IEEE Computer Society Lebanon Chapter, AUB, UOB, and the the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand hosted a delegation from #RIPE NCC, on March 22.

Following a meeting with faculty members, more than 120 students from different universities in the North attended a seminar on How the #Internet Works by RIPE NCC representatives.

The seminar was a detailed view of the networking operations of the internet, followed by a workshop on IPv6.

This event was an opportunity for students to get exposed to insights and practical experiences of the Internet operation.

RIPE NCC (Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Center) is the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia. It oversees the allocation and registration of Internet number resources (IPv4 addresses, IPv6 addresses and autonomous system numbers) in this region, including Lebanon.

The RIPE NCC supports the technical and administrative coordination of the infrastructure of the Internet. It is a not-for-profit membership organization with over 10,000 members located in over 76 countries in its service region.
