Boutros Makary Is a Chef!

Congratulations to our student Boutros Makary for claiming second prize in the prestigious culinary competition organized by the Lebanese Academy of Gastronomy. ALG is a non-profit organization, founded in 1995 and headquartered at the Al-Bustan Hotel in Beit Mery.

The academy is affiliated with the International Academy of Gastronomy (AIG – its French acronym), a group of national and regional academies, originally based in Europe but now spread worldwide. AIG aims to protect and develop different cultures and culinary heritage.

Every year, ALG organizes a cooking competition where participants have to prepare traditional Lebanese dishes with a special twist. This year our students Boutros Makary and Karim Akiki represented the School of Tourism and Hotel Management at the University of Balamand in this event which was held on April 25. ​​
