Balamand Delegates at AINAC

Balamand delegates attended the Arab Innovation Network Annual Conference in Abu Dhabi on September 27-28, where they were introduced to the AIN societies initiated at other universities in the Arab region and met with AINAC organizers who strongly encouraged the initiation of an AIN society at UOB.

The three Balamand delegates were Rola Jadayel, assistant dean of Student Affairs, Judy Metry, an assistant at the Campus Life and Student Development office, and civil engineering student George Dahdah.

The conference provided a common space for Arab students, top entrepreneurs, academicians and industrials to network and exchange ideas. AIN (Arab Innovation Network) was founded in 2011 by a group of Arab students at the University of Cambridge, with a vision to become a leading youth network in the Arab World through empowering innovators in Science and Technology.

The program of the conference was diversified in terms of the activities provided. The delegates attended panel discussions, open debates and workshops, in addition to visiting the “Innovating Spaces Exhibition” where sponsors and students with innovative ideas were presenting their projects.

According to the three delegates, the initiation of an AIN Society at Balamand “is highly recommended.” Joining the Arab Innovation Network will offer a strong link to a group of concerned Arab scholars at the University of Cambridge. It will allow Balamand students take part in AIN program, such as:, AINAC 2015, Women’s Arab Innovation Network (WAIN) and AINSoc 24 hour Entrepreneurship Challenge.

The team will be working on promoting the idea among colleagues and students at Balamand with the objective of initiating an active chapter for AIN on campus.
