Digital Signal Processing Algorithms for Spectrum Sensing in Software Cognitive Radios

On December 11, the Department of Computer Science organized a seminar titled "Digital Signal Processing Algorithms for Spectrum Sensing in Software Cognitive Radios " presented by Dr. Lise Safatly. The seminar was divided into two tracks. The first track revolved around her research, which focused on relaxing the hardware limitations of cognitive radio transceivers, and the second track on her current research project in collaboration with the Lebanese Army on novel techniques for landmine localization. A number of faculty members, staff, and students attended the seminar.

Dr. Safatly joined the Department of Computer Science as a part-time instructor at the start of the Fall 2014-2015 semester. She received her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the American University of Beirut. Her PhD dissertation is entitled "Robust Signal Processing Algorithms for RF Complexity Reduction in Cognitive Radio Systems." She is the author, or co-author, of several publications in refereed journals.
