Meeting the Gaming Industry Halfway

On 14 February 2016, the Department of Computer Science and the Computer Science Club organized a seminar entitled "Meeting the Gaming Industry Halfway", which was presented by Mr Ziad Feghali, Co-Founder, CEO and partner at Wixel Studios. The latter is a Lebanese development company that has released several top websites, mobile and game applications on a variety of platforms.

Mr Feghali started with a presentation on Arabic Game Jam, which is to be held in Beirut on 5-6 April 2016. “Arabic Game Jam,” he explained, “will challenge the best game development teams from the Middle East and North Africa to create a game in forty-eight hours. It will also offer a unique opportunity to create games, meet developers and make new friends during a fun weekend in the vibrant city of Beirut. Students will have free entrance to the Arabic Game Jam to compete in making the best game or simply to participate and learn about new ideas and technologies in an intense yet informal atmosphere.”

Mr Feghali went on to talk about the MEGA MENA Games International Conference, to be held on 7-8 April 2016. He encouraged faculty members and students to attend this unique platform to explore business opportunities in what is widely regarded as a highly promising market.
A number of faculty members, staff, and students from various departments attended the seminar. Students who attended showed great interest, curiosity and readiness to participate in both the Arabic Game Jam and the MEGA MENA Games Conference.
