Six Full Nursing Scholarships

Attentive to the needs of its community, the Faculty of Health Sciences is offering six full scholarships to qualified students interested in majoring in Nursing – and there is still time to  apply for a Fall admission!

“There is great demand for professional nurses in Lebanon and abroad, and the University is eager to help meet this demand,” said Dr. Marie Therese Sabbagh, assistant director of the Nursing Program at the main campus. Interested students will need to present their high school grades, enjoy a certain language level.

The full scholarships, which cover the entirety of the 99 credits needed for graduation, are limited to students enrolling in the Al-Kurah campus. However, all nursing students, in both the main campus and the Ashrafieh campus, are offered financial support that may go up to 50 percent of tuition.

The Nursing Program prepares students to become leaders in the field of health promotion, disease prevention, acute long-term nursing care, and rehabilitation. The program is offered in English and French.

Nursing graduates, said Dr. Sabbagh, have abundant opportunities in several settings. These include:  hospitals, primary health and rehabilitation centers, schools, health insurance, pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies, and home health care agencies.

The Nursing Program, said Dr. Sabbagh, is based on the principle that “Nursing is both a scientific discipline based on scientific knowledge, values and ethics, and a profession which aims at practicing the discipline in providing health care.”
While the current Balamand program offers only a BSN in the discipline, there are plans to launch an MS degree in Nursing in the near future, said Dr. Sabbagh.
