Eight Lebanese Air Force Cadet Officer Pilots Receive Training at the University of Balamand

Within the month of January, eight Cadet Officer Pilots (COPs) from the Lebanese Air Force underwent a 3-day specialized course on “Gas-Turbine Engine, Theory, Operation and Trouble Shooting”. The course was run by the Balamand Institute of Aeronautics in the Faculty of Engineering and delivered by Ms. Dima Nasr.  It made use of the sophisticated engine simulator available at the Faculty. Feedback from the COPs and their commanding officers has been excellent and both the BIA and the LAF look forward for more.

At the end of the course, all officers received certificates of completion and Ms. Nasr received a shield of appreciation from the commander of the Air Force, Brigadier-General Ziad Haikal, for her efforts in the design and delivery of the course.

It is worth noting that the simulator is a very advanced piece of equipment that is used to support students’ learning in many areas of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, as well as Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technology. This is the first time that its use is extended to the Air Force, under the terms of the MOU signed between the University and the Lebanese Army.
