Reflections on Modern Theories of Early Islamic History


The Sheikh Nahyan Center for Arabic Studies at the University of Balamand and Intercultural Dialogue is hosting a lecture with Dr. Tarif Khalidi on: “Reflections on modern theories of early Islamic history”.

Dr. Tarif Khalidi is a student of Arabic/Islamic cultural history. 

His works had considerable influence on Arabic studies. Most prominent among them are: Images of Muhammad (Random House, 2009), The Muslim Jesus (Harvard University Press, 2001), Arabic Historical Thought in the Classical Period (Cambridge University Press, 1995), as well as a landmark translation of the holy Qur’an (Penguin, 2008).
