Level 65 by Jad Karam excels at Lebanon Health Hack 2020

​Jad Karam (Nursing Student), participated in the Lebanon Health Hack, an online hackathon organized by Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Pitchworthy and The Submarine Coworking Space as a response to the Coronavirus outbreak in Lebanon. The objective of the hackathon was to develop, test and optimize solutions to address issues related to community mental health challenges and support the Lebanese healthcare system. Participating groups and individuals, were offered online training and went through a mentorship program from April 8, 2020 till April 11.

 



The final online pitching session was on Saturday April 11, 2020, and Jad presented his awareness entrepreneurial project "Level 65", which consists of organizing online meeting series, using Zoom application, and tackling different health topics that are relevant to the current situation and that can have a positive impact on participants. Jad already hosted different session in collaboration with experts and other University of Balamand colleagues who are also eager to give back to their communities especially at this critical time. So far, within the framework of the project, a number of awareness sessions have been held. These covered topics related to spending quality time with family members, interacting with children in time of stress, home workouts, the importance of volunteer work, nutrition that boosts immunity, and finding balance.

 



The Hackathon results were announced on April 15, "Level 65" was amongst the three selected winning teams, that each received $6,000 worth of training and support to further develop their social concepts and take their ideas to the next level.

 



Jad remarked that his regular contact with the Career Services Center at the Office a Student Affairs played a major role in linking him to several training sessions, conferences and meetings related to entrepreneurship in general and social entrepreneurship. He believes that this has qualified him to build his idea and make into a sustainable startup.
