ايمانا منها بالدور المحوري الذي تضطلع به المؤسسة العسكرية على مساحة الوطن، وفي إطار مساعي تطوير وتوطيد التعاون بين الطرفين وقّعت جامعة البلمند مذكرة تفاهم مع القوات البحرية اللبنانية يوم الثلاثاء 5 تشرين الأول 2021.

تضمنت الإتفاقية الحصرية بروتوكول تعاون أكاديمي يسمح لتلامذة الضباط متابعة إختصاصاتهم في الجامعة وتسهيلات لعديد القوات البحرية اللبنانية في الخدمة الفعلية وعائلاتهم وللمتقاعدين وعائلاتهم ولعائلات العسكريين الشهداء.

وقّع الاتفاقية عن المؤسسة العسكرية العقيد الركن البحري هيثم ضناوي قائد القوات البحرية في الجيش اللبناني وعن الجامعة رئيسها الدكتور الياس ورّاق في حضور عدد من الضباط ووفد من إدارة الجامعة ضم نائب الرئيس للعلاقات الدولية والشؤون المحلية وعميد كلية الهندسة البروفيسور رامي عبود، نائب الرئيس لشؤون ادارة القبول والتسجيل الدكتور سليم كنعان، والعميد البحري المتقاعد ومستشار عميد الهندسة للشؤون البحرية نزيه البارودي. 

ولفت الدكتور ورّاق إلى أن هذه الاتفاقية تعكس العلاقة المثمرة، المميزة، والوثيقة بين جامعة البلمند والجيش اللبناني عموما والقوات البحرية خصوصا وتُجسِّد رسالتهما المشتركة في خدمة الوطن.

من جهته، أعرب العقيد ضناوي عن شكره وتقديره العميق لجامعة البلمند على مبادرتها، معتبراً أن التحصيل العلمي مكون أساسي من مكونات تميّز العسكريين والضباط وتطورهم على الصعيدين الشخصي والمهني.

تجدر الإشارة الى أن هذه الاتفاقية تأتي في سياق طويل من التعاون في التعليم والأبحاث بين الجامعة والمؤسسة العسكرية لا سيّما في مجالات الهندسة، التكنولوجيا، وتدريب الكوادر البشرية.​

In recognition of the instrumental role that the Lebanese Naval Forces play in Lebanon, and in the context of efforts to develop and consolidate cooperation between the two parties, the University of Balamand signed a memorandum of understanding with the Lebanese Navy on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. The exclusive collaboration includes an academic cooperation protocol that allows Navy Officer Cadets to pursue their studies at the university and facilities for active-duty Navy personnel, their families, retirees, and the families of the martyred soldiers.

The agreement was signed by Navy Commander CPT Haitham Dannawi on behalf of the Navy Forces of the Lebanese Army, and for the University, President Dr. Elias Warrak, in the presence of a number of officers and a delegation from the university that included Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Rami Abboud, Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Salim Kanaan, and Retired Admiral and Consultant to the Dean of Engineering for Maritime and Navy Affairs Nazih Baroudi.

Dr. Warrak emphasized that this agreement reflects the fruitful, valuable, and close relationship between the University of Balamand and the Lebanese Army, especially the Navy, and embodies their common mission in serving the country. For his part, Colonel Dannawi expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation to the University of Balamand for its initiative, considering that educational attainment is an essential component of the distinction and development of the navy and its officers on personal and professional levels.

It should be noted that this agreement comes in a long context of cooperation in education and research between the university and the Lebanese Army, especially in the fields of engineering, technology, and professional development.
