The University of Balamand has committed to the joint efforts and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Dutch Wavemakers United.

After participating in a panel discussion at the Expo 2020 Dubai on Wednesday 23rd of March, Prof Rami Abboud, Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand, has signed an MOU with the Wavemakers United in presence of Mark Harbers, Netherlands’ Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management.

The main objective of Wavemakers United is to inspire, motivate, activate, and give visibility to the water, food and energy innovations and thereby create awareness around the various global challenges we are facing, which corresponds with the vision of the Faculty of Engineering and LEWAP student chapter who seek to solve the problems of all matters related to water resources along with the development of innovative solutions. The LEWAP chapter was represented by its advisor Dr. Yasmine Jabali, who played a key role in securing this agreement. Dr. Jabali is one of the leaders in academic research on water topics at UOB.

Professor Abboud underlined that “The University of Balamand is strategically committed to sustainable development of the community and the country where water, research, projects and awareness are considered integral and fundamental parts of this commitment. It was a privilege for the University of Balamand to be invited to join as the first and only university from Lebanon on the day”.
