Faculty of Engineering Hosts Water Resources and Management Workshop

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at the University of Balamand was honored to host a high-impact training workshop on Water Resources and Water Management at its Koura campus, which was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Yasmine Jabali. Bringing together representatives from municipalities and the North Lebanon Water Establishment for a vital knowledge-sharing event. The workshop was organized by Tankamel Sawa and the FOE, with funding from ArcheNova and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Spanning over two consecutive days (29 & 30 October 2025), the training provided practical, science-based insights on water resources management, case studies, and a laboratory tour including hands-on experience on different water quality testing methodologies. With 50 participants in attendance, the workshop offered an important platform for enhancing technical skills and strengthening local capacities in water management.

Giving insights on the training, Dr. Jabali emphasized: “Participants were highly motivated and deeply engaged throughout the sessions. Their dedication to improving water management in their communities reflects a strong sense of responsibility. This level of commitment is exactly what is needed to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goal on Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), and it is inspiring to see local actors so eager to contribute.”

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud commended Dr. Jabali’s leadership in organizing the training and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in enhancing societal resilience and advancing sustainable development across Lebanon, reaffirming the Faculty of Engineering’s strong commitment to promoting sustainability.
