Patchina Sabbagh has successfully defended her PhD dissertation in Physical Education entitled “Relations entre les performances obtenues aux tests physiques anaérobies et la densité minérale osseuse chez l’adulte jeune”. The dissertation was prepared under the co-tutorship agreement between the University of Balamand and the University of Lille, France. It was supervised by Dr. Rawad El Hage, Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Balamand and Professor Georges Baquet - University of Lille. Based on Patchina’s research, three articles were published in international peer-reviewed journals. Dr. El Hage stated that he is very satisfied with the results of Dr. Sabbagh’s research, which underlined the need to implement strategies to increase performances obtained in anaerobic tests (e.g. jumping and sprinting) in order to prevent osteoporosis later in life. These results encourage the use of absolute muscular power as a new determinant of bone strength in young adults.
