Due to its extensive experience in the fisheries sector, the Marine and Coastal Resource Program at the Institute of the Environment (MCR-IOE-UOB) was nominated by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and by the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) to moderate the national webinar session related to the fisheries sector entitled “Small-Scale Fisheries University”.

More than 200 participants attended the SSF University webinar from 13 different nations. Attendees were separated into different parallel session for each country and the national webinar for Lebanon included 12 individuals representing the Ministry of Agriculture, National Centre for Marine Sciences at the National Council for Scientific Research, MCR-IOE-UOB team members, University of Saint Esprit-Kaslik, International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and representatives of fishermen cooperatives. ​
