Michael Salem, appointed as Corresponding Editor to IEEE Potentials

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand (UOB) is pleased to announce that Eng. Michael Salem, has been appointed as Corresponding Editor to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) indexed magazine, IEEE Potentials. As an appointed member of the Editorial Board, Mr Salem is only one of two Corresponding Editors from the MENA region and the only one from Lebanon.

IEEE Potentials Magazine provides undergraduate and graduate student members of IEEE worldwide with a publication to address global issues, technological trends, and career development topics. IEEE Potentials explores career strategies, the latest in research, and significant technological developments. Its articles also relate theories to practical applications, highlight technology’s global impact, and generate international forums that foster the sharing of diverse ideas about the profession.

Vice President for Internationalization & Engagement and Dean of Engineering, Professor Rami Abboud, stated “As a university, we have a long history with IEEE especially in terms of student activities with our multi-award winning UOB - IEEE Student Branch. Mike has been actively engaged with the IEEE on both UOB and Lebanon Section Levels. I’m very proud of his achievements and I’m sure that with this new role he will have the same positive impact he’s had on the UOB IEEE. Most importantly he will play a key role in shedding light on IEEE activities and interests in our region.” ​
