In celebration of International Museum Day 2022, a three-days cultural event “Turath Qalhat” was organized by the Department of Archaeology and Museology and the Ethnography Museum at the University of Balamand in collaboration with the Municipality of Qalhat - Koura, from May 19 till May 21.

The first day kicked off with a talk given by Dr. Patricia Antaki and Ms. Rita Kalindjian at the Ethnography Museum, in the presence of UOB faculty, staff and student, municipality members, cultural associations and the people of Qalhat, to elaborate on the findings.

Taking place at the heart of the village, Turath Qalhat featured an exhibition that unveiled Qalhat’s diverse cultural heritage. The audience was invited to explore the village’s rich history, ethnographical traditions, and various architectural elements as they took a tour inside the exhibition.

During his visit to the exhibition, Dr. Elias Warrak, President of the University of Balamand, stated: “The University of Balamand plays an important role in preserving Lebanese heritage and culture. In addition to providing all the support needed for similar cultural activities”.

The last day of the event included activities and workshops for kids and young adults that concluded with a rally paper game around the village, as a fun way to rediscover the Qalhat neighborhoods.
