On November 5th 2022, the University of Balamand hosted a National Team Retreat for the Lebanese Medical Students International Committee (LeMSIC) at the Dekwaneh Campus. With more than a hundred attendees, the retreat brought together members of LeMSIC local teams in Lebanese Medical Schools.
This retreat brings together all the National Team members of LeMSIC in aims of empowering local officials and providing them with the necessary skills needed to develop the organization. It is also worth noting that UOB Students hold several leadership positions in LeMSIC, including the president, vice presidents, and several other leadership positions.
Dr. Youssef Bassim, Chief Operating Officer and Consultant to the President for Health Affairs, spoke at the conference welcoming the attendees on behalf of the university. In his speech, Dr. Bassim stressed the importance of engaging medical professionals in capacity building in terms of medical, management, and leadership skills. Dr. Bassim also underlined the Faculty of Medicine’s role in respect: “Our medical students are not only our future generation of doctors but also the future leaders of change in our society. At the University of Balamand we firmly believe in the importance of providing a wholesome student experience as an integral part of medical education”.
