Dr. Nariman Khalil, an Associate Professor at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, has been selected on the ACI (American Concrete Institute) Lebanon Chapter for the position of Vice President for a two-year term, effective January 1st, 2023.

Dr. Khalil is a member of the ACI Committee 555 “Concrete with recycled materials” and a voting member in the ACI Subcommittee 555-0A. Besides being the founder and the advisor of the ACI UOB Student Chapter since 2016, Dr. Khalil is the only ACI member from the University of Balamand.

With the effort and support of Dr. Khalil, the University of Balamand has received high recognition from the ACI in regards to student activities. The ACI UOB Student Chapter has been recognized internationally for the sixth year in a row, as they have most recently received the 2022 Excellent University Recognition Award for student activities.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Rami Abboud congratulated Dr. Khalil for her new position as ACI Vice President Lebanon Chapter and admired her significant contributions in the field of Civil Engineering. He also praised Dr. Khalil’s efforts in supporting and mentoring our University of Balamand civil engineering students in acclaiming and sustaining our outstanding record in ACI awards. ​
