A Published Paper Through Scopus Indexed Journal by Alumnus Myriam Mansour

Myriam Mansour, a Balamand dedicated alumnus, who graduated in 2017, holding a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at the University of Balamand (UOB), has never given up and insisted on disseminating her findings hoping to make a difference towards the UN SDGs. Her findings have now been accepted in the Scopus Indexed prestigious journal "Environment, Development and Sustainability".

The accepted manuscript focusing on sustainability and SDGs 7, 11, and 12, is entitled: "Cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment of a photovoltaic-diesel hybrid system: the case of an industrial facility" and was under the supervision of Dr. Rima Manneh, a FOE Associate Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department.

The Master’s thesis was the result of a collaboration between the Chemical Engineering Department and the UNDP-CEDRO Project Manager at that time, Dr. Hassan Hrajali and co-authored by Myriam Mansour, Dr. Hassan Hrajali, Dr. Rima Manneh, and Dr. Henri El Zakhem.

Commenting on her recent achievement, Myriam stated: “My experience as a graduate from the University of Balamand was incredibly enriching and valuable. The education I have received was top-notch and provided me with a strong foundation in my field of study. Additionally, the support of my supervisor, Dr. Manneh, was instrumental in providing guidance and mentorship during my years of studies. I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I had at Balamand, and I am confident that they will serve me in my future endeavors”.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud congratulated Myriam for her dedication and determination and expressed his gratitude towards having the opportunity to publish her master’s thesis in a reputable journal. Professor Abboud strongly believes that engineering masters students have a great role to play in advancing knowledge and innovation in undertaking meaningful research and publish their work after completing their respective thesis. Professor Abboud equally hopes that Myriam’s accomplishment will inspire other UOB graduates to do the same.
