The University of Balamand signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Nini Hospital

Nini Hospital – Tripoli, July 22, 2022: The University of Balamand (UOB) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nini Hospital. The MOU was signed by UOB President Dr. Elias Warrak, the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Nini Hospital, Dr. Wahib Nini, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at UOB, Dr. Sami Azar. The signing took place in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Safi, President of the Lebanese Order of Physicians in Tripoli and Nini Hospital Medical Director, Dr. Elias Bitar, in addition to a number of doctors, nurses and staff at Nini Hospital.

In consonance with the MOU, Nini Hospital will provide training programs for the Faculty of Medicine students at the University of Balamand. This agreement stems from both parties’ commitment to elevating the level of health care in Lebanon through befitting clinical training programs.

Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Wahib Nini stated: “This agreement intends to help medical students practice what they acquired at the university through applied medicine and hands-on experience that the hospital will provide and closely follow.” He also highlighted the importance of this cooperation at a national level, adding: "We are confident that the cooperation between the hospital and the university constitutes for a promising future that will hopefully prepare a generation of young doctors capable of maintaining Lebanon’s statue as The Hospital of the East."

In turn, Dr. Elias Warrak underlined the positive role that the university will play in accordance, stating: “We at the University of Balamand will be an academic, cultural, and national bond that supports its presence and sustains its exceptional educational level.” He also accentuated the responsibility of universities in supporting institutions that are concerned with people's interests, in an effort to contribute to greater societal advancement. Dr. Warrak concluded with: “This is our goal and this is the strategy of our university that we maintain in order to fulfill our responsibility towards our country and its people. This goal can only be achieved by preserving the most important sectors in Lebanon; the medical and the educational sectors”. ​​
