Social Justice in the Thought of Imam Moussa Al-Sadr Symposium at UOB

Within the realm of the International Day of Social Justice, the Center for Christian-Islamic Studies at the University of Balamand, in cooperation with the Lebanese Center for Justice, organized a seminar entitled "Social Justice in the Thought of Imam Moussa Al-Sadr" in the Nahyan Building at the University of Balamand main campus.



The seminar was attended by the Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Muhammad Imam, the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Tripoli, Koura and their dependencies, Afram Kyriakos, Father Antoine Mikhael, representing Bishop Youssef Soueif, Charitable Delegate Mrs. Ruba Shafshaq, the Bar Association of Tripoli's Marie Therese Al-Qawwal, Vice President of the National Media Council Ibrahim Awad, and a number of deans of university faculties.


The aim of this seminar was to highlight the role of religions in imposing social justice and advancing the ideas of Al-Imam Moussa Al-Sadr. The symposium was launched with the conviction that social justice fosters a strong sense of citizenship.


 


Drawing on the words of Al-Imam Al-Sadr, the guest of honor Dr. Rabab Al-Sadr, affirmed that "the universe is based on the principles of justice, and as human beings, it is our duty to ensure its application on earth." She went on to say that the absence of conscience poses a threat to the continuation of the human race, while the judiciary serves as the guardian of this message and protects human beings.



At the close of the seminar, shields were presented for the speakers where the Lebanese Center for Justice presented an honorary shield to Dr. Rabab Al-Sadr through Dr. Aisha Fathi Yakan, in recognition of Dr. Al-Sadr’s outstanding career and contributions.



Moreover, the Mufti of Tripoli and the North, Sheikh Muhammad Imam, presented a shield of appreciation to Father Porphyrios Georgi, while Metropolitan Afram Kyriakos honored His Eminence Sheikh Malek Al-Chaar with a shield. Additionally, Dr. Elias Halabi was awarded a shield in the name of the Lebanese Center for Justice, which he received from Dr. Georges Bahr.​
