The CBB in brief
The “Cursos Bíblicos del Balamand” Program is a first response to the large demand of Eastern Christian Education in Latin America. The courses cover a wide range of issues related to the Bible and its place in the Orthodox Church. It is well know that the Bible has a constitutive role in the shape and contents of the Byzantine Liturgy, the main spiritual source of every Orthodox believer. Therefore, the program focuses on those biblical texts that have a decisive role in the services and the sacramental celebrations of the Church. On the other hand, these courses invite their participants to rediscover the Antiochian hermeneutical tradition that has contributed with a large collection of writings and studies on the Scripture.
Additionally, students will not only be introduced to the main linguistic and historical-critical methods but will also get familiar with the biblical world particularly with those issues related to Lebanon and other Arab countries.
A general introduction to both Testaments is the initiation to the program. Other courses interpret books according to their categories in the Biblical canon:

A certificate is awarded to those who have successfully completed each one of the courses and a Diploma in Biblical Interpretation will be submitted to those who have followed the whole program and have satisfied the faculty final evaluation. The courses given in the framework of e-learning are not transferable to any degree program at the University.

El programa de los “Cursos Bíblicos del Balamand” llega como una primera respuesta a la gran demanda de formación cristiana oriental en Latinoamérica. Los cursos cubrirán un amplio espectro de temas relacionados con la Biblia y su importancia en la Iglesia Ortodoxa. Es sabido que la Biblia tiene un rol constitutivo en la forma y en los contenidos de la Liturgia Bizantina, la principal fuente espiritual de la feligresía ortodoxa. Por ello, el programa estudiará principalmente aquellos textos bíblicos que juegan un papel decisivo en los servicios y en las celebraciones sacramentales de la Iglesia. Por otra parte, estos cursos invitan a sus participantes a redescubrir la tradición hermenéutica antioquena que ha contribuido con una gran colección de escritos y de estudios bíblicos.
Además, se ofrece a los estudiantes una introducción a los principales métodos lingüísticos e histórico-críticos, y al mundo bíblico en general, considerando particularmente los temas relacionados con el Líbano y demás países árabes.
El curso debe ser iniciado con una introducción general al Antiguo y al Nuevo Testamentos. De allí en más el resto de los cursos van interpretando gradualmente los escritos según sus categorías en el canon de la Biblia:

CBB213 Interpretación de Juan y las epístolas católicas
Se otorgará un certificado a aquellas personas que hayan completado exitosamente cada uno de los cursos y un DIPLOMA EN INTERPRETACIÓN A LA BIBLIA a todos aquellos que hayan seguido la totalidad del programa y hayan aprobado una evaluación final llevada a cabo por la facultad de Teología. Estos cursos se ofrecen siguiendo el sistema de e-learning y no son transferibles a ningún programa de graduación en la Universidad del Balamand.
