WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

In today's dynamic business landscape, effective accounting and taxation techniques are critical to aligning a company's financial operations with its core mission and strategic goals, while ensuring regulatory compliance.

A growing demand exists globally, including in the Middle East, for accounting and tax professionals who can transform accounting and taxation functions into strategic assets. However, there is a notable shortage of such innovative talent in Lebanon and the wider Arab region. The UOB Accounting and Taxation Certification Program (ATCOP) addresses this critical gap by fostering a new generation of accounting and tax experts capable of driving organizational success.

ATCOP is a strategic initiative focused on developing skills that are needed in the future. The program serves both current and aspiring accountants, as well as business professionals seeking to advance their careers in accounting and taxation. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, ATCOP aims to produce modern accounting and tax business partners.

VISION AND MISSION OF THE PROGRAM

Vision
The program aims to equip fresh graduates and industry professionals with the essential technical skills and knowledge needed to thrive in accounting and taxation. Delivered through a comprehensive hybrid program, it seeks to produce highly competent professionals who can enhance the efficiency and integrity of financial systems in Lebanon and the Arab world. By fostering a culture of transparency and reliability, the program contributes to the overall strength of various sectors.

  • - Offer a unique hybrid accounting certification program that responds to the business needs of modern public and private sector organizations in the Arab World and Lebanon.
  • - Offer a unique hybrid taxation certification program that responds to the business needs of modern public and private sector organizations in Lebanon
  • - Promote accounting professionalism in the Arab World and Lebanon through a carefully designed set of courses that cover the latest in accounting knowledge and best practices.
  • - Develop participants’ accounting and taxation technical and business competencies, through real experiential cases.



INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES (ILOs)

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  1. Develop a Comprehensive Understanding of Financial Accounting Principles and the Accounting Cycle.
  2. Develop proficiency in managing inventories, financial assets, plant assets, intangible assets, and cash flows.
  3. Analyze financial data, apply costing techniques, and prepare key financial reports for effective decision-making.
  4. Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Lebanese tax system, including corporate taxes, payroll taxes, VAT, and the National Social Security Fund, and apply this knowledge for effective tax compliance and reporting.








TARGET AUDIENCE


The Certificate in Accounting and Taxation is designed for a diverse audience, including finance professionals, entrepreneurs, and business owners seeking to enhance their understanding of accounting principles and taxation regulations. Ideal participants include university graduates who have completed a non-accounting track. The program is also suitable for self-employed individuals, consultants, and SME owners looking to improve their financial management and tax compliance skills. While prior knowledge of accounting concepts is beneficial, the course is structured to accommodate both beginners and those with some experience in the field, ensuring accessibility to a wide range of learners.

D. LEBANESE TAXATION SYSTEM AND NSSF (24 HOURS) – ILO 4

• Introduction to the Lebanese Tax System (2H)

TESTING AND COST

• Multiple-choice test at the end of each course with a passing score of 70%.

• The program fee is $900 paid in 3 installments with the possibility to register 1 course for $225.





MODE OF DELIVERY

• The ATCP is an instructor-led program that utilizes lectures, exercises, and activities to guide participants in understanding fundamental principles of generally accepted accounting principles and the Lebanese taxation system.
• The program is conducted in hybrid format, allowing participants to attend online or on campus.


DURATION & TIMING

• The total hours of ATCP are 96 hours, spread across 4 courses.
• Classes are scheduled twice a week, each session lasting 4 hours with a break.
• The total duration of the program is 12 weeks.
• Starting date: May 5, 2025.


CAPACITY

The program places a strong emphasis on quality, limiting the number of participants per cohort to 25 to ensure personalized attention and effective learning outcomes. The minimum number of participants per cohort is 15.




BIO



Samir Sertin

Mr. Samir Elias Sertin is a seasoned accounting professional with extensive experience in both industry and academia. He completed his early education at Tripoli Evangelical School before earning a BS in Business/Accounting (1988) and an MS in Business Management (1995) from The Lebanese American University – LAU. After a 13-year career in the Lebanese private sector as an accountant and financial controller, he transitioned to academia, teaching at various universities across Lebanon.

In 2007, Mr. Sertin became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy, later receiving CPA certification from the Accountancy Examining Board of the State of Iowa in 2016. Since 2009, he has been a full-time senior lecturer at the University of Balamand, where he has also served as the Coordinator of the Accounting & Auditing track at the Faculty of Business & Management since 2012.

A Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) since 2014, Mr. Sertin also plays a key role in professional certification training, delivering CPA and CMA preparatory lectures at Morgan International, Beirut, since 2007. His expertise spans financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and management accounting, making him a leading figure in accounting education and professional development.






Ahmad
A-Salloum


Mr. Ahmad A-Salloum is an experienced lecturer of accounting and researcher with expertise in accounting and taxation. Currently pursuing a PhD in Accounting, his research explores innovative approaches to improving financial reporting, tax compliance, and the integration of artificial intelligence in accounting education.

With over 15 years of experience as a tax auditor at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. A-Salloum combines deep practical knowledge with academic excellence. He has over a decade of teaching experience, delivering accounting and taxation courses and empowering students with the skills needed for success in a dynamic global economy. As a trainer and consultant, Mr. A-Salloum worked extensively to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications in accounting and finance.
