Course Print and Electronic Reserve

Course reserves (print and electronic) are materials chosen by instructors to support class instruction. The materials are maintained in a separate location within the library or online through the library catalog, and access to the material is more restricted than access to items in general circulation.

To access the current course reserve materials please click here.

For Students:
In general, materials in the print reserve section can be borrowed for two hours during the day or overnight, cannot be renewed, and must be returned to the same service desk from which they were borrowed.

Overdue Fees:
Fees for overdue course reserve materials are assessed at the rate of 25000 L.L. for each overdue hour, including overnight. If the item was not returned, the user will have to pay the accumulated charges plus the replacement cost of the item.

Students may access materials placed on the electronic reserve through the library catalog or through a link sent by their instructor. In order to access the electronic reserve off-campus, users are requested to login using their Balamand emails.

For Instructors:
The electronic reserve service at UOB Libraries allows instructors to share course readings and materials electronically with their students.

Item Limits:
The limit on items (physical and electronic reserves) that may be placed on reserve for a given course and instructor per semester is 30.

To place items on reserve you can:
  • Fill this Form for books available in the library,
  • Email softcopies to the concerned library employee (contact details are provided below),
  • or/and send hard copies of materials to the appropriate library’s circulation desk.

Processing requires 3-4 days on average once the request and photocopies are submitted.

"Permanent" Reserve:
Only non-copyrighted materials may be allowed to remain on electronic reserve indefinitely. All physical and electronic materials, including materials owned by the University Libraries, will remain on reserve only during semesters when the course for which those materials were requested is in session.
