The University of Balamand (UOB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Izdihar, a local community organization in Tripoli that aims towards youth development and capacity-building in Tripoli. The MOU was signed by Dr. Elias Warrak, President of UOB, and Mr. Mosbah El-Ahdab Founder of Izdihar, in presence of Dr. Elie Karam, Dean of Issam Fares Faculty of Technology at UOB.

This partnership aims to improve academic standing of youth through the establishment of continuous education programs which will provide disadvantaged youth with proficient skills to sustain their life conditions and abilities to develop their community.

Both parties are aligned on the importance and the necessity of improving the prevailing living and social conditions in Lebanon, in general, and in Tripoli, in particular. Towards this end, UOB will receive, through funds from Izdihar, twelve students into a special education program where projects will be implemented in areas related to agriculture and food, water and renewable energy, and green smart buildings.
