The Office of Athletics, Wellness, and Recreation (OAWR) at the University of Balamand successfully organized the highly anticipated Intercampus Games at the Koura campus on May 11, 2023. With over 120 enthusiastic participants from the Souk El Ghareb, Akkar, and Koura campuses.
The event featured thrilling competitions in two popular sports, basketball and football. The intercampus rivalry was intense, with students from the three campuses displaying remarkable athleticism, teamwork, and determination.
In the basketball tournament, the Koura campus team demonstrated their exceptional skills and secured a well-deserved victory. Their impressive performance on the court highlighted their dedication and passion for the sport.
Similarly, in the football matches, the Koura campus team exhibited remarkable teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship, earning them the top spot once again.
The winners of both the basketball and football tournaments were honoured during the closing ceremony by Prof. Rami Abboud, Vice President for Internationalisation & Engagement and Dean of Faculty of Engineering, and Mr. Ghaleb Halimi, Senior Director of the OAWR. They presented the victorious teams with trophies and congratulated them on their outstanding performance.
Besides the intense competition, the Intercampus Games celebrated the spirit of healthy competition, and also promoted sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect among participants. It was a great opportunity for students from Souk El Ghareb and Akkar to visit the Koura campus and to celebrate a momentous day with their Koura colleagues.
The successful organization of the Intercampus Games by the OAWR demonstrates the university's commitment to nurturing the physical and mental well-being of its students. Such events not only provide a platform for showcasing talent but also encourage students to lead an active lifestyle and engage in extracurricular activities.
