UOB Open Doors at the Souk El Gharb Campus

The University of Balamand (UOB) hosted its Annual Open Doors event at its Souk El Gharb campus, attracting 1600 students from various public and private schools to explore the different faculties and majors available. The day featured several educational and creative activities organized by the university’s student clubs.

The university also arranged an educational meeting for directors of public and private schools in Aley and its surrounding areas. The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Judge Dr. Abbas Halabi, the President of the University of Balamand, Dr. Elias Warak, His Excellency Mr. Akram Chehayeb, Director General of Al Ishraq Schools, Sheikh Dr. Wajdi Al Jurdi, representing the President of Irfan establishment, Sheikh Sleiman Halabi, the head of the Lebanese Mine Action Center (LMAC) in the Lebanese Army, Brigadier General Jihad El Bechaalany, officers and accompanying members from the center and the engineering regiment. Additionally, the Director of UOB’s Souk El Gharb Campus, Dr. Habbouba Aoun, along with vice presidents of the university, deans, professors, and staff were also in attendance.

After concluding the meeting with a Q&A session with the schools’ directors, President Warrak and Minister Halabi took a tour of the event’s activities, where the LMAC presented a field demonstration on how to detect and dismantle mines using trained dogs and modern equipment for mine detection.

The university’s collaboration with the Lebanese Army, aimed to honor the resilient students in the South of Lebanon and to raise awareness through ongoing sessions about the dangers of white phosphorus and unexploded ordnance.
