UOB Students Appointed as SDG Ambassadors in Brain Lab Accelerator Program

Luna Mhanna (Environmental Sciences), Lynn Zouein (Graphic Design), and Karl Moukheiber (Graphic Design), students from the University of Balamand (UOB), have been appointed as SDG Ambassadors for the 2024-2025 academic year as part of the Brain Lab accelerator program.

The SDG Brain Lab is a program launched by the United Nations Global Compact Network Lebanon (UN GCNL). It is designed to empower Lebanese youth, aged 18 to 24, in advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN's 2030 Agenda on a national scale. A total of 500 students from 11 Lebanese universities, including the University of Balamand, took part in a 7-month program divided into three main hubs: Training Hub, Brain Hub, and Data Hub.

After showcasing commitment, engagement, leadership, interest in sustainability, and willingness for change, UOB participants stood out due to their outstanding work ethics and were appointed as SDG Ambassadors for the next academic year 2024 - 2025 to represent change in their universities and their immediate environment. The ambassadors were appointed during the closing ceremony.

As SDG Ambassadors, they will continue to receive extensive training on the UN 2030 Agenda, allowing them to advocate effectively for change within their universities and communities. Their roles will involve attending events and webinars to promote the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, furthering their influence and efforts in contributing to sustainable development on both local and national levels.
