UOB Students Win First Prize at RAeS AeroTube 2025 Challenge

A team of students from the Aircraft Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautical) programs at the University of Balamand (UOB) has achieved an international success by winning the Team Award of the Year at the RAeS AeroTube 2025 competition, organized by the Royal Aeronautical Society.

The UOB team made up of Ezzedine Abdelkader, Jana Gedeon, Sophie El Hayek, Aya Abi Joumaa, Charbel J. Saade, Ahmad Mrad, and Jesus Al Hayek, participated on their own initiative. They produced a video titled “X-59: The Future of Supersonic Aircraft,” which explores NASA’s X-59 quiet supersonic technology and its impact on the future of air travel.

AeroTube is a global competition that invites students and early-career individuals to produce short educational videos on aviation and aerospace topics. Established in 2021, the competition aims to encourage creativity, research, and innovation in the aerospace field.

This achievement reflects UOB’s strong commitment to academic excellence, hands-on learning, and preparing students to succeed in global engineering and aeronautical challenges.
