AED Donation Supports Campus Wellbeing

AED Donation Supports Campus Wellbeing

On the 27th of March 2026, the University of Balamand welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Douaihy, founders of the NGO (من قلب إيڤ), at the Koura campus, who donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to support the safety and wellbeing of UOB students.

This Foundation was established in memory of the Douaihys’ son, Yves Douaihy, Class of 2020, who passed away in 2021 due to sudden cardiac arrest. Through this initiative, the Douaihys aim to prevent similar losses and save lives by promoting access to life-saving equipment.

During the visit, Mr. Douaihy expressed his commitment to this cause, noting that this donation marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with the University of Balamand, and shared his hope to expand support in the future through additional donations and collaborative initiatives.

AEDs play a crucial role in responding to cardiac emergencies, especially in active university environments where sudden incidents may occur. Immediate access to an AED can significantly increases survival rates, making this contribution a vital addition to the campus safety infrastructure.

The University of Balamand will also launch training and awareness sessions aimed at equipping students, particularly club leaders, as well as faculty and staff with essential life-saving skills and certifications in basic life support.
