UOB Secures Patent for INVERTICA Assistive Technology Innovation

The University of Balamand, Issam Fares Faculty of Technology (IFFT) has officially obtained a registered patent from the Intellectual Property Protection Office at the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade under registration number 13581 for the innovative invention “INVERTICA,” developed by Dr. Claudia Mattar and student Claritta Al Saneh.

This achievement represents a major achievement in assistive and human-centered technology. “INVERTICA” is an intelligent device designed to support individuals with hearing, and speech impairments by helping them better perceive and interact with the external world, while compensating for significant sensory limitations through an advanced and user-friendly technological approach.

The invention stands out for introducing capabilities that go beyond conventional artificial intelligence concepts in terms of speed, predictive performance, energy efficiency, and ease of use, opening the door to a new generation of innovative technological applications.

This accomplishment was achieved with the support of Dr. Elie Karam, Dean of IFFT, and under the leadership of University President Dr. Elias Warrak, who praised this success as a reflection of the university’s commitment to excellence in research, innovation, and impactful technology development.

The patent further highlights the creativity and potential of Lebanese researchers and students in developing meaningful innovations with both scientific and humanitarian impact, reinforcing the role of the University of Balamand as a hub for technological advancement and innovation.
