UOB Hosts Engineering Career Panel

The Career Services Center at the University of Balamand (UOB), in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering, hosted a panel discussion titled “Bridging University and Industry: What Future Engineers Need to Know” on Thursday, April 30, 2026, as part of the Engineering Seminar Series. The event aimed to support engineering students as they prepare to transition from academic life to the professional world and gain a deeper understanding of the skills and mindset required in today’s evolving engineering industry.

The panel featured four guest speakers from leading companies and organizations moderated by Ms. Diala Farah, Director of Career Services Center, each sharing insights from their professional experience and discussing the realities of engineering practice across different sectors. The speakers included Eng. Elias Mattar, Site Maintenance and Engineering Manager at Malia Group, Eng. Joseph Amer, Mobility Unit Manager at Phoenix Group – Indevco, Eng. Fady Challita, Production Manager at Liban Cables Nexans, and Eng. Sajed Medlej, Senior Research Engineer at IPT Powertech.

Throughout the discussion, panelists highlighted the importance of technical competence, adaptability, teamwork, project ownership, and continuous learning in building a successful engineering career. They also encouraged students to make the most of their university experience through coursework, internships, capstone projects, and extracurricular involvement to better prepare for industry demands.

The session provided students with valuable industry perspectives and practical advice, helping bridge the gap between university education and professional engineering practice.
