Dr. Jean Claude Assaf Appointed to the Early Career Editorial Board of Processes, a Scopus-Indexed Peer-Review Journal

The Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at the University of Balamand is pleased to announce a new distinction that strengthens academic excellence marked by the appointment of Dr. Jean Claude Assaf, Associate Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department, as an Early Career Editorial Board Member of Processes, an International, peer-review, open-access journal indexed in Scopus and published by MDPI journals.

This appointment recognizes Dr. Assaf’s sustained academic and editorial contributions to Processes over the past seven years, during which he has actively supported the journal through his involvement in Special Issues and editorial activities.

Dr. Assaf’s new role will contribute to the journal’s editorial mission through several key responsibilities. These include the initial screening and pre-review assessment of submitted manuscripts, where he will evaluate academic quality, novelty, scope alignment, and completeness, and provide recommendations on whether submissions should proceed to peer review, be revised, or declined. He will also participate in the peer review process within his area of expertise.

In addition, Dr. Assaf will act as an ambassador for Processes, promoting the journal within academic and professional networks, and contributing to its visibility at conferences and scholarly events. He will support journal development by proposing Special Issue topics, encouraging high-quality submissions, identifying potential reviewers, and recommending impactful articles for dissemination and media promotion. His role further includes inviting leading researchers to contribute to the journal and supporting best practices in academic publishing, including peer review standards, ethics, and editorial strategy.

This two-year appointment (2026–2027) reflects both Dr. Assaf’s growing international recognition in chemical engineering, process systems engineering, and innovation, and the Faculty of Engineering’s continued commitment to research excellence and scholarly leadership.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud extends his sincere congratulations to Dr. Assaf on this distinguished appointment and wishes him continued success in his academic, research, and editorial endeavors.
