Driven by her passion for engineering education, curriculum development and quality assurance, Dr. Mantoura Nakad, Assistant Professor and Director for Curriculum & Sustainable Development at the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), has successfully completed the prestigious ABET Program Evaluator Candidate (PEVC) Training, held on 30–31 May 2026, at the ABET Headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

The intensive training program provided participants with valuable insights into ABET accreditation processes, evaluation methodologies, continuous improvement practices, and the responsibilities associated with maintaining educational excellence across academic programs. Through intensive interactive sessions and collaborative discussions, candidates who passed the training gained the knowledge and skills required to contribute effectively to accreditation reviews and uphold internationally recognized standards in STEM education.

Following Dr Nakad successful completion of the training, the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) recommended her candidacy as an ABET Program Evaluator (PEV), a great achievement that contributes to her professional growth and strengthens the FOE’s role in engineering education as well as in international accreditation standards and quality assurance.

Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Nakad stated:

"It was a privilege to interact with more than 60 experienced evaluators and professionals from all over the world dedicated to advancing high-quality STEM education worldwide. I look forward to meaningfully contribute to quality education through ABET’s mission and supporting continuous improvement in engineering education”.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud extended his heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Nakad on successfully becoming an ABET PEV, which marks another huge milestone in her distinguished academic career. As an ABET PEV, Dr Nakad reinforces the University of Balamand’s commitment to excellence in teaching, innovation in research, and global best practices in engineering education.
