The University of Balamand (UOB) celebrates the participation of two of its students, Sara Saliba, an Interior Architecture and Design student, and Carla El Boustany, a Medical student, who represented Lebanon as members of the Lebanese National Taekwondo Team at the Mediterranean Games 2026, held in Taranto, Italy, from August 21 to September 3, 2026.

Competing in the Female -49 kg category, Sara Saliba took part in the Taekwondo competition on August 24 and achieved an impressive 9th-place finish. Her participation reflects her dedication, determination, and commitment to excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

Carla El Boustany also represented Lebanon at the Games, gaining valuable international experience and demonstrating the discipline and dedication required to compete at this level. She competed in the Taekwondo event and was defeated by the Serbian athlete who went on to secure the Silver Medal of the competition, making her participation a valuable experience at the international level.

Their participation in the Mediterranean Games is a remarkable achievement, as they exemplified the spirit of UOB student-athletes who pursue excellence in both their academic and athletic journeys while proudly representing their country on the international stage.
