The Faculty of Medicine (FOM) at the University of Balamand (UOB) organized its 4th Medical Conference at the University’s Koura campus from September 3 to 5, 2026, titled: “Trauma: From Impact to Recovery”.

The conference focused on the management, diagnosis, and treatment of various types of accidents and injuries, highlighting the importance of rapid and effective medical response through collaboration across different specialties and healthcare sectors.

It brought together prominent medical and academic figures, healthcare and professional organizations, and specialists from various fields. The conference provided a platform to exchange expertise, discuss the latest practices in injury and emergency care, and address challenges facing the healthcare sector, with a focus on strengthening emergency response and improving the quality of care.

Dr. Sami Azar, Dean of FOM, emphasized the importance of addressing injuries and accidents from a comprehensive perspective. He stressed that effective management requires cooperation among different medical specialties and relevant institutions. He stated: “Through this conference, we seek to develop practical recommendations and submit them to the Ministry of Public Health, contributing to the development of the healthcare sector and strengthening its capacity to respond to emergencies.”

The conference concluded with the participation of H.E Minister of Public Health Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, who delivered a lecture entitled “Vascular Injury Assessment & Diagnosis”. The lecture addressed the main approaches used in assessing and diagnosing this type of injury, as well as the importance of rapid diagnosis and medical intervention in emergency situations.

H.E Nassereddine praised UOB’s role in hosting scientific conferences and promoting research and the exchange of medical expertise. He also commended the resilience of Lebanon’s healthcare sector despite the successive crises facing the country. In addition, he highlighted the Ministry of Public Health’s efforts to develop public hospitals, strengthen their preparedness, and improve the emergency medicine and response system for urgent medical cases.

The organization of this conference reflects both UOB and FOM’s commitment to advancing the exchange of knowledge and expertise, keeping pace with medical developments, and contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and service to the Lebanese community.
