UOB Clubs from the Faculty of Health Sciences Lead Breast Cancer Initiative at Chekka Development Council

Student clubs from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Balamand collaborated to organize a breast cancer awareness initiative at the Chekka Development Council, bringing together around 100 attendees for an informative session focused on breast cancer awareness, prevention, and the importance of early detection.

The initiative was led by the Healthy Minds Club, Medical Laboratory Club, Nursing Students Society, and Nutri Club, with the participation of FHS instructors.

Through an educational presentation, students shared essential information about breast cancer, addressed common misconceptions, and highlighted the importance of recognizing potential warning signs and seeking timely medical attention. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of early detection and regular screening in improving health outcomes, encouraging attendees to take proactive steps toward their well-being.

To further support the initiative, Haykel Hospital distributed more than 30 screening discount coupons, providing attendees with an opportunity to access early detection services and reinforcing the importance of translating awareness into action.

This collaborative initiative reflects the University of Balamand's commitment to community engagement, health education, and preventive care. By extending their knowledge beyond the classroom, FHS students demonstrated the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in raising public awareness and empowering communities to make informed decisions about their health.
