The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Balamand (UOB) is proud to announce that Dr. Myriam Mrad, Associate Professor and Director of the Research Center at the Faculty of Health Sciences, represented UOB at the international event “Climate Change and Health in Mediterranean Countries,” hosted by the French Academy of Medicine in Paris in January 2026.

This prestigious gathering brought together leading experts from across the Mediterranean region to exchange knowledge and advance dialogue on the growing health impacts of climate change.

During her presentation, entitled “Climate Vulnerability in Lebanon: Lessons Learned and Opportunities,” Dr. Mrad highlighted key achievements accomplished throughout 2025 in Lebanon in the field of climate change and health.

Her talk showcased the innovative work led by UOB, The Health and Environment Response Agency (HERA) and their national and international partners, including initiatives on climate vulnerability mapping, community engagement, climate-resilient healthcare systems, air quality action, disease surveillance frameworks, and capacity-building for health professionals.

This participation reflects the continued commitment of the University of Balamand to advancing evidence-based climate and health resilience efforts in Lebanon and across the Mediterranean region.
