In the midst of an increasing food security crisis, the University of Balamand continues to provide support to agricultural value chains through a variety of development programs.

The Department of Agriculture at the Issam Fares Faculty of Technology, in collaboration with the Agricultural Value Chain Development Center (AVCDC) has successfully concluded the first cycle of distribution of 50,000 seedlings for 50 producers in the Akkar region; a second cycle will follow next month with the same number of seedlings to the same producers who already followed training sessions on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

Seedlings were produced at the USAID funded plant nursery at the Akkar campus, which was awarded part of the LINQ project implemented by Land O’Lakes. ​
