The Faculty of Engineering and the Lebanese Armed Forces Collaborate on Innovative Building Rehabilitation Research

As part of a longstanding collaboration between the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the University of Balamand (UOB), the Civil and Environmental Engineering Laboratories within the Faculty of Engineering carried out a series of tests on six beams on Monday the 26th of February. This research initiative was a joint effort between Dr. Wahib Arairo, an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering, with Colonel Milad Al Khatib from the LAF. The six beams were cast and prepared at the Independent Works Regiment, with dedicated funding from the LAF. The research aims to evaluate a potential methodology for building rehabilitation. This research effort reflects the ongoing and productive working relationship between UOB and LAF.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud expressed his deep appreciation and support towards this collaboration with the Lebanese Armed Forces. He added that the Faculty of Engineering will always have its facilities and expertise in support of the Lebanese Armed Forces. Professor Abboud further indicated that this fruitful partnership exemplifies how academic expertise combines with practical military applications can pave the way for impactful scientific publications and potentially transformative methodologies in Civil Engineering.
